Ok that title was a bit of a joke. I found it on facebook the day after the tropical storm was supposed to strike but never happened in Kona. Hilo, Puna and the east side of the island was hit leaving 8,000 people without power but here in Kona we were protected by the mountains.
Or should I say volcanoes.
That is right people Madam Pele put a stop to a tropical storm and told it to get lost! The west side of the island has not been effected at all...not even rain! Lots of clouds but no wind no air, no rain and no storm!
Man I sure as hell don't want to piss off Pele!
All the while the volcano was spuing lava at the storm from what my aunt told me. Talk about sticking it to em!
So here I am writing this up and looking at the rain coming down outside my house (Finally!) and the gentle breeze that cooled down my room. No effects whatsoever.
But I feel sorry for the guys who live in Puna. They took a beating from the storm with downed trees and power outages. So my store is helping to donate chainsaws, chains, wood, water and supplies to help the people there.
Me on the other hand i just will remain stocking the shelves while they do.
